Natural Ways to Whiten Your Teeth

natural ways to whiten teethLet’s face it – no one likes to visit the dentist.

So, if I could share with you natural ways to whiten your teeth at home without having to come in to the dentist office wouldn’t your ears perk up?

I thought so.

Over time, the foods and beverages we consume can really do a number on our teeth, causing changes in the enamel and dentin on our teeth.

Plenty of people visit their dentist to whiten their teeth, but did you know there were natural ways to whiten your teeth?

These natural whitening methods are inexpensive and can be worked into your daily routine right at home.

The only caveat to not using your dentist to whiten your teeth is that it may take a little bit longer to see results from your efforts.

Natural Ways to Whiten Your Teeth

Here are a list of 5 ways to whiten your teeth naturally without visiting your dentist.

1. Brush after eating and drinking.

It’s probably no surprise that many of the food and beverages we consume stain our teeth. This is the number one reason why people come to my dentist office to have their teeth whitened.

Many are coffee and black tea drinkers, two of the biggest culprits. Wine can also stain teeth as can cigarette smoking (not a food or beverage but still a big one).

Tomato sauce, balsamic vinegar, fruit juices, sweets with sugar and fruit in them can all stain your teeth.

To prevent staining form happening in the first place, and minimize any further staining, it is best to develop the habit of brushing your teeth after you eat or drink these items.

2. Try activated charcoal.

Activated charcoal is a highly absorbent substance that, when placed on your teeth, will adhere many of the toxins in your mouth and removes stains.

Often used as a substance to ward off poisoning, brushing your teeth with activated charcoal will leave your teeth clean and smooth.

To use it simply add a small amount to your mouth or toothbrush with a little water and brush for about 2 minutes. Spit, rinse, and enjoy your clean and whiter teeth.

3. Brush with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.

Baking soda is an abrasive substance so it will essentially scrub off the stains left on your teeth by food and drinks we discussed above. Mix a small amount of baking soda with hydrogen peroxide until it forms a very liquid paste.

You don’t want too much baking soda as it can permanently damage the enamel on your teeth.

The one thing you need to be aware of when whitening your teeth at home is that it will take a little bit longer to see results than if you simply came into the dentist office and had it done in a few hours.

These natural ways to whiten your teeth are easier and more cost effective then getting it done by a dentist but you will have to commit to using your chosen strategy every single day for a minimum of 30 days before you judge weather or not they are working or not.

I have faith that you will see a difference and will love how they whiten your teeth naturally.
